Brett Newsome, Sheldon Feinland, and Torsten George Join to Fill Key Finance, Sales, and Marketing Positions
Sunnyvale, Calif. & Albuquerque, N.M. – February 23, 2016 – RiskSense®, Inc., the pioneer and market leader in pro-active cyber risk management, today announced the addition of three new members to the company’s senior management team. Brett Newsome joins as chief financial officer, Sheldon Feinland as vice president of global sales, and Torsten George as vice president of global marketing and products. All three will be tasked with expanding the company’s leadership position in the emerging market for pro-active cyber risk management, which promises to unify traditional Web, application, and network perimeter defense systems to shorten time-to-remediation and minimize the risk of cyber-attacks.
“One of the biggest challenges in defending against cyber-attacks is the fact that security tools are silo-based and require security professionals to comb through huge volumes of data to connect the dots and find the needle in the haystack,” said RiskSense founder and chief executive officer, Dr. Srinivas Mukkamala. “The RiskSense Platform transforms cyber risk management into a pro-active, collaborative, and real-time discipline. We believe the key additions we’ve made to the management team will allow us to accelerate our growth even further. I am delighted they are on board.”
“Brett, Sheldon, and Torsten bring the right combination of management skills, domain experience, and results-driven approach to RiskSense,” said Greg Oslan, executive chairman of RiskSense. “Their contributions — both individually and as a team — will enable us increase our market share in the fast-growing cyber risk management market.”
Brett Newsome brings more than 20 years of financial and operational expertise to RiskSense. Previously, he served as chief financial officer for Infrastructure-as-Service providers, Joyent and GoGrid, where he implemented a global financial structure to drive growth and profitability across the organizations. Newsome also served as vice president of finance for UltraDNS, a Software-as-a-Service DNS provider, where he successfully helped lead the company from pre-revenue to a successful acquisition by Neustar (NYSE: NSR). He also held leadership roles with KPMG and Citi.
“This is an exciting time join RiskSense,” said Brett Newsome. “The company is growing rapidly and organically. I look forward to driving shareholder value and expanding our position as a leading provider of pro-active cyber risk management technology.”
Sheldon Feinland joins RiskSense from Systech International, where he grew revenue more than 300% over a two-year period. At Damballa, he grew revenues by 100% year-over-year; and helped Guidance Software achieve a successful IPO. He has strategic relationships with C-Suite, executive leadership, and market influencers in the financial services, consumer goods, retail, telecommunications, government, pharmaceutical, and insurance industries. Feinland is an expert in compliance, security, risk, electronic discovery, business intelligence, and analytics.
“Coming to RiskSense at this point in its evolution is a great opportunity,” stated Sheldon Feinland. “The company’s pro-active cyber risk management platform is exactly what customers need to stay ahead of increasingly complex threats. The global market potential for this technology is massive.”
Dr. Torsten George has more than 20 years of global and domestic information security experience. He is a frequent speaker and contributor to media outlets on cyber security and risk management topics including data breaches, incident response best practices, and cyber security strategies. George has held executive level positions with Agiliance, ActivIdentity (now part of HID® Global, an ASSA ABLOY™ Group brand), Digital Link, and Everdream Corporation (now part of Dell).
“I’ve evaluated and worked with many security vendors over the years, but have rarely come across a technology stack as innovative as the one in the RiskSense Platform,” said Torsten George. “The company’s technology, combined with management’s clear focus on market-driven product development, made it an easy decision for me to join RiskSense.”
